Faith Life in a Catholic School

Marist-Sion College is inspired by the traditions of the Marist Brothers and the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion, and is situated in the Catholic Diocese of Sale. The Diocese of Sale spans from Narre Warren in the West, to Orbost in the East, with Marist-Sion College serving the Parishes of Iona/Maryknoll, Bunyip, Koo Wee Rup, Drouin, Warragul and Trafalgar.

Religious education classes, based on the Diocese of Sale’s To Live in Christ Jesus curriculum, are compulsory for all students regardless of faith tradition, whilst beyond the classroom we provide additional opportunities for students to express and develop their faith through prayer, retreats and other spiritual experiences. Our central purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to empower students to live out the Gospel message in their lives, and this is reflected in a visible Catholic culture and active sacramental practice.

Opportunities exist for young people to further their spiritual formation through membership in Game Changers, a school-based Marist youth ministry program, or through involvement in other youth ministry initiatives such as Fitzroy Soup Van, West Heidelberg Bread Run and Traralgon LifeBlood Donations.

Opportunities also exist for students to learn about the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, and to learn more about what it means to belong to the Catholic tradition, through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Young People.
